History

Harry Wiancko founded The Highland Worldwide Group of Companies in 1969 with two trucks and a 1,500 sq. ft. warehouse in North Vancouver, B.C. Operating as Highland Van & Storage Ltd, he expanded in the 1970s, going beyond local moving and storage in the Greater Vancouver area to offer provincial and inter-provincial moving services through affiliations with van lines such as Atlas, our current van line affiliate.

Noticing the increasing number of families moving overseas, Harry founded Worldwide Overseas Moving Service Inc. in 1977, providing full destination and origin services for families moving to and from Canada.

The business continued to grow in the 1980s with the help of his sons Alan and Robert. In 1995, they expanded to Vancouver Island with the acquisition of Dowell’s Moving & Storage Ltd. and in 2003 acquired Summit Moving & Storage Ltd. to expand into the Fraser Valley.

The year 2003 was a breakthrough for Highland as we purchased our own facility, located right by Highway 91 in Delta and provided easy access to the entire Lower Mainland as well as the container terminals of Port Vancouver.

Harry’s legacy of providing quality local, long distance and overseas moving services to households across Metro Vancouver and the Victoria area continues under the leadership of his sons.

As one of the biggest moving companies in Western Canada, we strive to provide exceptional customer service and a seamless moving experience. We continuously develop and invest in our employees and procedures while embracing the latest technologies in order to deliver value and convenience to our customers.

In addition, we are the only certified international moving company with Canada customs bonded warehouses in both Vancouver and Victoria, BC. This enables us to give our clients faster, more efficient service and a higher level of convenience than other local moving companies.

Our moving service is available in the Metro Vancouver area including Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, New Westminster, the North Shore, Maple Ridge, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, White Rock and Abbotsford.

Credentials

Highland Worldwide is a member of the Canadian Association of Movers (CAM), which represents moving & storage companies around the world. CAM’s main purpose is to point consumers to professional moving services as well as information on moving.

For 25 years, Worldwide Overseas Moving Service has held the highest qualification level of FIDI, among the first moving companies in Western Canada to do so. This requires us to regularly pass a rigorous certification verifying that Worldwide Overseas’ procedures, customer service and quality control meet the utmost international standards.

Highland has been part of the Atlas Van Lines network for over 30 years and is an Atlas Canada Platinum Customer Service awarded moving company. Find out more >
